What is a brat generator?

A brat generator turns your words into an image in the style of the brat album cover that Charli XCX released in June 2024: plain lowercase text, slightly stretched and blurred, on a flat lime-green square. The look was so simple that fans started copying it for everything from memes to birthday posts, and “brat” went on to be named Collins Dictionary's Word of the Year for 2024. (New to the trend? Read what brat means.)

This generator recreates that look in your browser. You choose the words, the colors and the size, and you get a clean image file you can post anywhere. It's fan-made and unofficial, and it isn't connected to Charli XCX or her record label.

What makes text look “brat”?

The style comes from a few small choices. Get these right and any phrase reads as brat:

  • All lowercaseNo capital letters, even for names. Keep the lowercase box ticked.
  • The lime greenBrat green is closest to #8ACE00. It's the first preset in the tool.
  • A narrow fontThe cover is widely reported to use Arial Narrow. We use Archivo Narrow, a free lookalike that looks the same on every device.
  • A soft blurThe text looks slightly out of focus. A blur between 20% and 40% is closest to the original.
  • Short wordsOne or two words hit hardest. Longer phrases work too; the text shrinks to fit.
  • Lots of spaceKeep text size around 60–75% so the color has room to breathe.

Tips for better brat posts

Pick the right size first

Choose Square (1200×1200) for profile pictures and playlist covers, Post (1080×1350) for Instagram feed posts, Story (1080×1920) for stories, reels covers and phone wallpapers, and Wide (1920×1080) for YouTube thumbnails and headers.

Use line breaks on purpose

For two or three words, press Enter between them and set alignment to Justify. Each line stretches to the same width, which gives a bold, poster-like block.

Choose the right file type

PNG is sharpest and best for text. JPG makes smaller files for chats. WebP is small and sharp, and works in most modern apps. On a phone, Share sends the image straight to Instagram, WhatsApp or your Photos.

Frequently asked questions

Is this brat generator free?

Yes. It's completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark on your downloads. You can make as many images as you like.

What font does the brat album cover use?

The cover is widely reported to use Arial Narrow, stretched and blurred. Arial Narrow isn't installed on most phones, so this generator uses Archivo Narrow, a free open-source font with the same narrow shape, which means your image looks the same on every device.

What is the hex code for brat green?

Brat green is most often matched to #8ACE00, which is RGB 138, 206, 0. It's the default color in the generator.

How do I make the text blurry like the album cover?

Use the Blur slider. Around 20–40% is closest to the original cover. Set it to 0% if you want perfectly sharp text.

What size should I use for Instagram, TikTok or a wallpaper?

Use Story (1080×1920) for Instagram and TikTok stories and phone wallpapers, Post (1080×1350) for Instagram feed posts, Square (1200×1200) for profile pictures and covers, and Wide (1920×1080) for YouTube and banners.

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers. On phones that support it, the Share button sends the image straight to your apps or Photos; otherwise use Download.

Is my text private?

Yes. The image is drawn inside your own browser, and your text isn't uploaded to our server or saved anywhere.

Is this the official brat generator?

No. BratGenerators.net is an independent, fan-made tool. It isn't affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Charli XCX, Atlantic Records or Warner Music Group.

Can I use the images I make?

Yes, for your own posts, profiles, chats and personal projects. Just don't present them as official Charli XCX artwork or merchandise.
