How to make a brat lyric video

  1. Type or paste your lyrics. Put each line on its own row. With the Word animation, every word gets its own screen.
  2. Add your audio (optional): MP3, M4A or WAV, up to 3 minutes. The video will be as long as the audio.
  3. Choose the timing. Auto shows each word for the same amount of time. Tap to sync lets you match the words to the song yourself.
  4. Press Play preview to check it, then Create video. The video records in real time, so a 30-second song takes about 30 seconds. Keep the tab open until the download button appears.

How tap to sync works

Tap to sync is the easiest way to line words up with a song, and it works on a phone.

  1. Add your audio and choose Tap to sync.
  2. Press Start tap sync. The song starts playing.
  3. Tap the big Tap button (or press the space bar on a computer) the moment each word is sung. Each tap moves to the next word.
  4. When every word is tapped, or you press Stop, the timing is saved. Press Play preview to watch it back.

Missed a beat? Just press Start tap sync again to redo it. Changing the lyrics or the animation clears the timing, because the number of words changes.

Best settings for TikTok, Reels and Shorts

WhereSizeTips
TikTok, Reels, ShortsStory 9:16 (720 × 1280)Keep text size around 60–70% so captions and buttons don't cover it
Instagram and Facebook feedSquare 1:1 (720 × 720)Word animation at 350–500 ms per word
YouTube, Twitter/XWide 16:9 (1280 × 720)Line or Build animations read better on wide screens

For fast songs, bring Time per word down to 200–300 ms. For slow, emotional songs, try the Build or Line animation with a longer time.

MP4 or WebM?

The video is recorded by your own browser, so the file type depends on what your browser supports. Recent versions of Chrome, Edge and Safari usually save MP4, which uploads everywhere. Some browsers, such as Firefox, can only save WebM. WebM plays in most browsers and uploads to YouTube, but some phone apps won't accept it; open this page in Chrome or Safari to get an MP4.

For the smoothest recording, close other heavy tabs and keep this tab open and visible while it records. Browsers slow down background tabs, which can make the video stutter.

Music and copyright

You're responsible for the audio you add. Songs by Charli XCX and other artists are copyrighted: posting a lyric video with a full commercial song can get it muted or removed. On TikTok and Instagram, a common approach is to make the video without audio here, then add the song from the app's own music library, which is licensed for use on that platform.

Your audio and lyrics stay on your device. They're processed in your browser and never uploaded to us.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a brat lyric video?

Type your lyrics, add your audio, choose Tap to sync and tap along as the song plays. Then press Create video and download the file when it's ready.

Can I make a brat video without music?

Yes. Leave the audio empty and use Auto timing. The video length is the number of words times the time per word, plus the pause at the end.

Why did I get a WebM file instead of MP4?

Your browser can only record WebM. Open the page in a recent version of Chrome, Edge or Safari to get an MP4.

How long can the video be?

Up to 3 minutes. Recording happens in real time, so longer videos take longer to create.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in recent mobile browsers. Tap to sync works especially well on a touchscreen. Keep the screen on and stay on the page while the video records.

Can I use a Charli XCX song?

The tool will play any audio file you own, but commercial songs are copyrighted. To post on social media, it's safer to add the song from the platform's own music library after downloading your video.

Is it free and private?

Yes. It's free with no watermark, and your lyrics and audio never leave your device.
