How to make brat text in CapCut & Canva
You can build the brat look inside CapCut or Canva, but the blur and stretch are tricky. Here's how to do it both ways, and when to use each.

The quick answer
The brat look needs four things: lowercase text, a narrow font, brat green (#8ACE00) and a soft blur. CapCut and Canva handle the first three well, but blurring text isn't straightforward in either app.
So there are two methods:
- Method 1: build it in the appBest when you need the text to be editable inside your project, or animated with the app's own effects.
- Method 2: make it here, then importBest when you want the exact brat look, blur included, in a few seconds. Works in CapCut, Canva and any other editor.
Method 1: brat text in Canva
- Create a design in the size you need, such as Instagram Post or Story.
- Set the background color. Click the background, open the color picker, add a new color and paste
#8ACE00. - Add a text box and type your words in lowercase.
- Pick a narrow font. Search the font list for a condensed sans-serif. Arial Narrow isn't always available, so choose the closest narrow font you can find.
- Set the text color to black (
#000000) and center it. - Stretch it slightly by dragging the side handle of the text box, or increase letter spacing a touch.
Canva's blur tools are designed for photos, not text boxes, so the text will look sharper than the album cover. If you want the blur, use method 2 and upload the image instead.
Method 1: brat text in CapCut
- Start a project and set the canvas ratio, for example 9:16 for TikTok.
- Set the background to a solid color and enter
8ACE00in the custom color picker, or place a brat green image on the main track. - Add text and type your words in lowercase.
- Choose a narrow font from CapCut's font list and set the color to black.
- Resize and position the text in the center of the frame.
- Animate it with CapCut's text animations if you want the words to move.
Effects and menus change between CapCut versions, and blur effects usually apply to the whole clip rather than just the text. For a clean blurred brat look, use method 2.
Method 2: make it here, then import (recommended)
This gets you the exact look in the fewest steps, blur and stretch included.
For a still image (Canva or CapCut)
- Open the brat text generator and type your text.
- Choose brat green, a narrow font, and blur around 20–35%.
- Pick the size that matches your project: Square, Post, Story or Wide.
- Download as PNG.
- In Canva, upload the PNG and drop it into your design. In CapCut, import it from your photos and place it on the timeline.
For text on top of a video (overlay)
- Open the brat sticker maker.
- Keep Transparent background ticked and choose the Box or Outline style.
- Download as PNG. The transparency is kept.
- In CapCut, add it as an overlay above your video. In Canva, place it on top of your video or photo.
For animated brat lyrics
Make the whole lyric video with the brat video generator: type the lyrics, tap along to sync them, and download the video. Then import it into CapCut to add effects or combine it with other clips.
Which method should you use?
| You want… | Use |
|---|---|
| The exact album-cover look, with blur | Method 2 (make it here) |
| Text you can keep editing inside the project | Method 1 (in the app) |
| Brat text over your own video | Method 2, transparent sticker as an overlay |
| Word-by-word lyrics synced to a song | The brat video generator, then CapCut for extra edits |
Tips for a better brat edit
- Match your sizes. A 9:16 image on a 9:16 CapCut canvas fills the screen with no black bars.
- Export PNG, not JPG, for anything with transparency or sharp text.
- Keep it short. One to three words per screen reads best on a phone.
- Mind the safe zones. TikTok and Reels cover the bottom and right edges with buttons and captions, so keep text near the center.
